The kick-off meeting for "Flexible Passive Protection Net Structural Technical Regulation" (a tentative title, hereinafter refer as "Regulation") was held successfully on April 20^th, 2017. OST is one of the participants for preparing the Regulation. It is reported that the Regulation is the first national engineering technical standard in China’s flexible protection structure field. There were more than 30 attendees from 18 organizations including China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization (the administrative organization) , Southwest Jiaotong University(chief editor for the Regulation), Central Research Institute of Building and Construction, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China Railway First Institute, China Railway ERYUAN, China Railway SIYUAN, PowerChina Beijing, Transportation Department of Sichuan, etc., covering fields of structure, rock and soil, transportation, water conservancy, geologic hazard and so on. This meeting was presided by Associate Professor Yu Zhixiang from Southwest Jiaotong University.

Senior Engineer Zhang Hongsheng from China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization made a speech on behalf of the administrative organization. He expressed gratitude to the effort made by the involved parties for preparing the Regulation. He also gave affirmations to the significance of the Regulation and made requests for further preparation work.

Then Associate Professor Yu Zhixiang read out the approval documentation for starting up the Regulation preparation, and introduced the progress achieved. The attendees had an all-around discussion on the outline, major technical issues, preparation schedule and teamwork for the Regulation and they guaranteed to complete the assignment in high quality and high standard.

OST chairman Lv Hanchuan delivered a closing speech as the representative of the participants. He said investment would be increased in order to promote further technical development. He also expressed the preparation for Regulation was an important event in China’s flexible protection industry and OST would fully support the preparation work in order to enhance the technical level of China’s flexible protection industry.

The start-up of the preparation for Regulation further strengthened the leading role played by OST in China’s domestic flexible protection technology.
