A 7.0-magnitude earthquake with a 20KM focal depth strike Jiuzhaigou County, Aba, Sichuan Province (33.2ºN, 103.82ºE) at 21:19, August 8^th. Four counties and 53 towns including Jiuzhaigou, Songpan, Ruoergai and Hongyuan were involved. It was reported 25 deaths and over 500 injuries in this earthquake. 

OST, as the leader of slope protection industry in China, swiftly sent its senior engineers to Jiuzhaigou. These engineers were there to investigate potential geologic hazards with Sichuan Land and Resources Department, Sichuan Transportation Department and other relative departments. Up to 16:00 Aug 16^th, 701 potential geologic hazard spots were investigated (238 were the newly found spots and the balance were re-checking spots).

“After the earthquake, at the intersection of Shenxianchi along Provincial Highway #301, it still shows the possibility of mountain collapse. Along the 100 meters long road, rocks fell down every day, more than 10 times in one single morning.” One of our staff from the site said. 

On the same day, our Chengdu office held an emergency meeting and decided to dispatch slope protection material to Jiuzhaigou. Right after the meeting, OST started immediately for products and vehicles preparation and material loading. It took only 4 hours for the whole procedure.At 19:30, the trucks carried OST material set off to Jiuzhaigou. The banners written” Altogether to Help Jiuzhaigou” were hang on the truck which caught widely attention. At 14:00, August 18^th, the material arrived in the disaster area.
